Harlan served as Edelman’s Global Practice Chair for Crisis & Reputation Risk, was a founding principal of the Chicago office of FTI’s Strategic Communications Consulting Group and served as the Managing Director of Litigation Communications for Hill & Knowlton.
Harlan began his legal career in private practice with the law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, where his work concentrated on public affairs and regulatory issues. Harlan subsequently served as Civil Rights Counsel for the ADL and led: all law enforcement and FBI training programs, discrimination cases, appellate litigation, hate crime investigations, high profile public affairs issues, and served as the media spokesperson for the League’s Civil Rights Division.
Harlan has been recognized by both Chambers and Partners and Lawdragon as one of the best litigation communications strategists in the United States.
