An Existential Fight for Accreditation

Challenge

A prominent higher ed conglomerate faced unexpected accreditation issues, including a class action and corresponding federal lawsuits with accreditation bodies. The company, which owned and operated multiple schools, garnered intense media attention and national news scrutiny for allegations pertaining to its students’ overall performance, exam preparation, and job placements.

Solution

Argyle’s Robert Gemmill helped the company counter biased and previously unchecked news coverage that was driven by plaintiffs. The company had not previously responded or defended itself publicly, or with students, prospective students, alumni, donors, and administrators. This new strategy took a more aggressive posture that stopped reacting to every baseless allegation and instead actively positioned the company as a premier institution that is one of the most diverse and unique in higher education.

Impact

We persuasively translated the company’s legal arguments to the public and accrediting board, and helped rally students and faculty in support – helping the company’s most important school keep its accreditation.
